Radioactive Decay

Radioactive Decay Fuels Earth's Inner Fires

Wow, interesting findings here that almost half of the earth's heat is generated by radioactive decay as opposed to all of it being from the molten core from the birth of the planet. It is also thought that this radioactive decay heat is responsible for tectonic shifts in the crust while the earth's core heat is retained down in the core.
