NASA Dawn Mission Nears Asteroid Rendezvous

NASA Probe 'On Target' For Yearlong Asteroid Encounter

A mission started 4 years ago is about to start paying off. NASA's Dawn spacecraft is due to rendezvous with one of the larger asteroids in the asteroid belt, Vesta, next month. It will orbit for a year, taking all sorts of measurements and images and then fly off to meet up with the dwarf planet, Ceres. This mission should reveal all sorts of fascinating information about the early solar system and planet formation. I am excited to see the images when they start rolling in next month!
