Logical DNA

New Genetic Circuit Detects Cancerous Cells and Forces Them To Commit Suicide

Very exciting breakthrough here in the fight against cancer. Scientists have developed a computer-like DNA-based logic circuit that can fight cancer cells in the body. By going through a series of logic operations like AND and NOT, these biological computers can sort out which cells are cancerous and apply a kill switch for them to self-terminate. This is a long way off from working in a human body (many kinks have to be sorted out), but the potential for these biocomputers to save human lives in this manner is staggering. This begs the question, are we becoming more like computers? Or are computers becoming more like us?
